'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from distance, and the defender quickly hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory completed an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory earned a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert every second of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a spell at lower division Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
